Overview

This 7-night, 8-day trip through Bhutan offers a concise yet immersive experience of the country's cultural and natural beauty. Starting from Bagdogra, you'll cross into Bhutan and travel to Thimphu, the capital, where you'll explore key landmarks like the Memorial Chorten, Buddha statue, and Tashichho Dzong.


Next, you'll drive to Punakha, enjoying the scenic Dochula Pass and visiting the historic Punakha Dzong. From there, you'll continue to Paro, where you'll see the National Museum and Paro Rinpung Dzong. A major highlight is the hike to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest, perched on a cliff above Paro valley.


The trip concludes with a return to Phuentsholing before heading back to Bagdogra for departure. This journey offers a well-rounded glimpse into Bhutan's culture, history, and stunning landscapes.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Bagdogra Airport, you'll be greeted by a representative from Charisma Bhutan Tours & Treks. From there, you'll drive to Phuentsholing, a town on the Bhutan border. You'll spend the night in Phuentsholing.

After breakfast process permit and drive to Thimphu, capital city of Bhutan. 


On the way, we will stop at Chuzom Bridge, where one can get to see three type of stupas in one place and beautiful location to take pictures. 


On reaching Thimphu, check in the Hotel.


Overnight: Stay in Thimphu

After breakfast, we will visit these sites in Thimphu.

  • Memorial Chorten: Built in 1974 by Queen Mother Ashi Phuntsho Choden in memory of her son, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. This stupa is a significant religious landmark in Thimphu.
  • Buddha Statue: The world’s largest Buddha statue at 169 feet offers panoramic views of Thimphu valley, symbolizing peace and prosperity.
  • Textile Museum: Established in 2001 near the National Library, it showcases Bhutanese textiles, arts, crafts, and royal collections, including the first Raven crown.
  • Tashichho Dzong: Built in 1641 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, this fortress by the Wangchu River serves as the central government’s seat and the King’s office.
  • Folk Heritage Museum: Exhibits ancient tools, materials, and artifacts that reflect Bhutanese rural life and traditions, preserving the country’s cultural heritage.
  • Simply Bhutan: A cultural museum that offers an immersive experience into Bhutanese traditions, showcasing the country’s unique customs and lifestyle.
  • Royal Takin Reserve: A wildlife reserve dedicated to protecting the takin, Bhutan’s national animal, offering a chance to see this rare species up close.


Overnight: Stay at Thimphu

After breakfast drive towards Punakha via Dochula pass.

  • Dochula Pass: Located an hour from Thimphu at 3,140 meters, this pass offers breathtaking views of the Eastern Himalayas and features 108 beautiful chortens.
  • Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility): A renowned shrine where couples seek blessings for fertility, famous for its spiritual significance and unique rituals.
  • Punakha Dzong: Situated at the confluence of the Phochu and Mochu rivers, this historic fortress served as Bhutan's capital until 1955 and is known for its stunning architecture.
  • Suspension Bridge: A scenic bridge near Punakha Dzong, offering a picturesque walk across the river with beautiful valley views.
  • River Rafting: Experience smooth and enjoyable river rafting in Punakha, with calm waters perfect for beginners and those seeking a relaxing adventure(optional).


Overnight: Stay at Punakha

After Breakfast we will drive back to Paro

  • Botanical Garden and Dochula Pass: Enjoy the fresh air and stunning views of the Himalayan ranges at Dochula Pass, with a visit to the serene Botanical Garden.
  • Ta Dzong (National Museum): Originally a 17th-century watchtower overlooking Paro Dzong, this circular fortress now houses the National Museum of Bhutan, showcasing the country’s rich history and culture.
  • Paro Rinpung Dzong: Built in 1644 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, this picturesque fortress by the Pachu River is a significant historical and architectural marvel in Bhutan.
  • Airport Viewpoint: A scenic spot offering panoramic views of Paro valley, especially popular for watching flights land and take off in one of the world’s most challenging airports.


Overnight: Stay at Paro.

After breakfast drive towards Taktsang base from where the hike begins. Horse riding facilities are available till view point.

  • Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest): Perched 900 meters above Paro valley on a rocky cliff, this iconic monastery is famed for its dramatic location and spiritual significance, believed to be the site where Guru Rinpoche flew on a tigress to subdue a demon.
  • Drugyal Dzong: Built in 1649 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, this historic fortress served as a key defense against Tibetan invasions and commemorates Bhutan’s victory.
  • Kichu Lhakhang: One of the oldest temples in Bhutan, built in the 7th century by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo as part of 108 temples constructed to pin down a supine demon across Tibet and Bhutan.


Overnight: Stay at Paro.

After Breakfast drive to Phuentsholing from Paro. Do shopping and leisure time inside the Town.

After breakfast, our guide and driver will see you off at Bagdogra airport for your onward destinations.

  • If the customer cancels the booking at least 30 days prior to the trip date, 70% of the booking amount will be refunded.
  • If the customer cancels the booking at least 15 days prior to the trip date, 50% of the booking amount will be refunded.
  • If the customer cancels the booking before it is confirmed, the full amount will be refunded, minus a small cancellation fee.
  • Refunds for third-party services, such as hotels and flights, are subject to the respective provider's cancellation policies. Eligibility and refund amounts are determined by their terms.
  • Refunds are processed within 5-7 business days, though actual timing may vary based on bank procedures.
