Itinerary

Arrive at Rann Riders in time for a hearty lunch, followed by a brief orientation and check-in.

In the late afternoon, set out on your first safari across the salt flats of the Little Rann of Kutch Sanctuary, an otherworldly landscape shimmering under the desert sun. Spot the iconic Asiatic wild ass and the region’s vibrant birdlife that thrives in this unique saline habitat.

Return to the resort by dusk and enjoy a relaxed dinner under the open sky - your first taste of the wild charm of the Rann.

Rise before sunrise for a jeep safari through a new zone of the sanctuary, where the early light reveals raptors soaring across the salt plains. Enjoy a packed breakfast amidst the open wilderness before returning to Rann Riders for rest and leisure.

After lunch, embark on an afternoon excursion to the wetlands of Nawa Talav - a large lake surrounded by grasslands and scrub jungle, alive with cranes, storks, ducks, and eagles. As the sun sets, the skies over the lake turn golden, marking the perfect close to another day of discovery.

Before dawn, depart on a long and adventurous drive deep into the heartlands of the Little Rann. Venture beyond the familiar salt plains towards Medak Island, a rocky outcrop and one of the Rann’s highest points. Here, enjoy a packed breakfast with panoramic views stretching endlessly across the white expanse.

Explore this isolated island on foot, keeping an eye out for the rare Greater Hoopoe Lark and other desert species that thrive in this stark yet beautiful environment.

Return to Rann Riders for lunch and a leisurely afternoon, followed by a quiet evening and dinner at the resort.

This morning’s safari takes you to the grasslands of Panchasar Kiari, an open landscape at the edge of the Rann that offers excellent sightings of foxes, sarus cranes, and small grassland birds like the delicate prinia and Stoliczka’s bushchat. Enjoy a breakfast picnic amid the tall grasses before heading back to the resort.

After lunch, step away from wildlife and journey into the village clusters bordering the Rann. Here, you’ll visit traditional craft centres and meet artisans known for their intricate handwork and embroidery - a glimpse into the cultural fabric that complements the region’s wild beauty.

Return to Rann Riders by evening for dinner and overnight stay.

On your final morning, trade the jeep for a guided nature walk through the woodlands, wetlands, and farmlands surrounding Rann Riders. This gentle walk reveals the smaller wonders of the ecosystem - from native trees and birds to rural life unfolding nearby.
