Itinerary

Arrive at Paro International Airport, complete your immigration process. Meet your Bhutanese guide waiting outside.


Start your journey towards Thimphu enroute visit:

  • Tachog Lhakhang monastery, situated on the Paa Chhu River. Built in the late 1300s by the renowned Tibetan saint Drupthob Thangthong Gyalpo, it's a significant historical site.
  • Chuzom Bridge, known for its three distinct types of stupas and stunning photo opportunities.

Accommodation will be arranged at a hotel in Thimphu for overnight.

After breakfast, begin exploring the capital city of Thimphu. Highlights of the day include:

  • Memorial Chorten: Built in 1974 by the Queen Mother in memory of the Third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.
  • Buddha Dordenma Statue: A massive 169-foot (52-meter) statue offering stunning views over Thimphu.
  • Tashichho Dzong: A riverside fortress that houses the King’s office and monastic summer residence.
  • Simply Bhutan Museum: A living museum showcasing Bhutanese culture, tools, and artifacts.
  • Takin Preserve: Home to Bhutan’s national animal, the takin.
  • Craft Bazaar: A colorful display of local handicrafts and souvenirs.

Overnight stay in Thimphu.

After breakfast attend a half day of Thimphu Tshechu festival, which is held in Tendrelthang (courtyard) of Tashichhodzong, which houses some ministries, the office and throne room of his Majesty the King and the central monk body.


After lunch, visit

  • Takin Preserve centre: The Takin is the national animal of Bhutan, and looks like a cross between a cow and a goat.

Dinner and overnight in Thimphu Hotel.

Embark on a scenic drive to Punakha, passing through Dochula Pass (3,140 meters), offering breathtaking views of the Eastern Himalayas and the 108 chortens.


Sightseeing includes:

  • Chimi Lhakhang: Also known as the Temple of Fertility, popular among couples seeking blessings.
  • Punakha Dzong: A majestic fortress at the confluence of the Phochu and Mochu rivers, site of Bhutan’s first royal coronation.
  • Suspension Bridge: Ideal for photos and riverside views.

Optional: White-water rafting on the Punakha River for adventure seekers.

Return and overnight stay in Thimphu.

Travel to Paro for an enriching day of exploration:

  • Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest): Bhutan’s most iconic site, dramatically perched on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress.
  • You can hike to the Monastery, it takes around 5 hours to go up and come down.
  • After this hike you can chose to go for a hot stone bath(extra cost).
  • Ta Dzong: A former watchtower now serving as the National Museum of Bhutan.
  • Paro Rinpung Dzong: A 17th-century fortress by the Pachu River, known for its historical and architectural significance.

Overnight stay in Paro.

After breakfast, your guide and driver will escort you back to Paro International Airport.


From there, continue your journey onward with fond memories of Bhutan.
