Overview

The Maha Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years at four sacred riverbanks: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik, and Ujjain.

This spiritual event centers on the belief in Moksha — liberation from the cycle of birth and rebirth. Millions of pilgrims bathe in the holy waters of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati, seeking purification and enlightenment.

The festival also includes large-scale community outreach, offering free medical care, food, and spiritual guidance.

Downstream lies Varanasi, also known as Kashi, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities globally. Rich in legends, the Ganga River flowing through Varanasi holds mystical significance, believed to cleanse sins and guide souls toward salvation.

Begin your day in Varanasi with a leisurely breakfast at your hotel.

Then, experience the unique Bharat Mata Mandir, a shrine dedicated to Mother India. Instead of deities, it features a marble relief map of the country, a testament to freedom fighter Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta's vision. Built in 1936 and inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi, it remains the world's only temple dedicated to a nation.

Finally, visit the Durga Temple, located near Durga Ghat on the Ganges River. Built in the 18th century, this temple houses a magnificent idol of Goddess Durga and is a significant Varanasi landmark.
