This 6-day Bhutan journey offers a well-paced introduction to the country’s culture, landscapes, and spiritual heritage while ensuring comfort and smooth travel throughout. Starting from Phuentsholing, the route covers Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro, combining scenic drives, cultural landmarks, and local experiences. Key highlights include Dochula Pass, Punakha Dzong, cultural sightseeing in Thimphu, and the Tiger’s Nest Monastery hike in Paro. Designed with verified local guides and balanced travel days, the itinerary provides an authentic and comfortable Bhutan experience focused on learning, nature, and meaningful exploration.

Itinerary

Arrive at Bagdogra/NJP, our representative will receive you at the airport/railway station. The journey towards Phuentsholing will take around 4 hours. Upon arrival check-in at your hotel.


Overnight stay at Phuentsholing

After breakfast, meet your Bhutanese guide and driver and complete your Immigration process. Begin your scenic drive from Phuentsholing to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city.


Enroute, enjoy several scenic and cultural stops:

  • Visit one of Bhutan’s first hydroelectric dams, Chhukha.
  • Take in beautiful river valley views along the way.
  • Stop at Wangkha Waterfall, a picturesque roadside waterfall.
  • Visit the Gedu Stupa, a striking and serene Buddhist monument, ideal for photos and a short visit.

Upon arrival in Thimphu, check in to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely walk around Clock Tower Square. Explore the local market area and soak in the city’s relaxed atmosphere.


Overnight Stay: Thimphu

After breakfast at your hotel in Thimphu, start your drive to Punakha, enjoying scenic stops enroute:

  • Pause at Simtokha for panoramic views of the surrounding valleys.
  • Stop at Dochula Pass, renowned for its 108 chortens (stupas) and breathtaking 360° Himalayan views.
  • Visit Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple), where couples seek blessings for children.
  • Explore Punakha Dzong, the second-largest dzong in Bhutan, celebrated for its magnificent architecture and historical importance.
  • Visit one of the largest suspension bridges in Bhutan.

Later, drive back to Thimphu.


Overnight stay: Thimphu

After breakfast, begin your sightseeing in Thimphu.

  • Visit Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang), home to one of the largest golden sitting Buddha statues, offering panoramic views of the Thimphu Valley.
  • Explore the Simply Bhutan Museum (Living Museum) to gain insights into Bhutanese culture, history, and traditional lifestyles.
  • Visit the Takin Preserve Zoo to see Bhutan’s national animal, the takin, and learn fascinating legends associated with it from your guide.

Visit Zorig Chusum, the Institute of the Thirteen Traditional Arts and Crafts of Bhutan, including:

  • Painting (Lhazo), sculpture, wood carving, calligraphy.
  • Paper making, bronze casting, embroidery, weaving.
  • Carpentry, masonry, bamboo and cane weaving.
  • Gold and silver smithing and blacksmithing.
  • Stop at a viewpoint overlooking Tashichho Dzong, the majestic fortress-monastery in the heart of Thimphu.
  • By late afternoon, proceed to Paro. Upon arrival in Paro, check in to your hotel. If time permits, explore local handicraft shops in Paro town.

Overnight Stay at Paro.

Early morning after breakfast, you will go for Tiger's Nest Monastery Hike.


Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang Lhakhang), one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks.

According to legend, Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) flew to this site on the back of a tigress and meditated there, giving the monastery its name, “Tiger’s Nest”.


The hike takes approximately 5 hours (round trip) up to the viewpoint and offers breathtaking views of the Paro Valley and surrounding mountains.


After hike you can go for a Hot Stone Bath to relax your muscles.


Overnight stay: Paro

After breakfast, check-out from your hotel. Start your journey from Paro to Phuentsoling.

You can explore Zangtoh Pelri Lhakhang, a serene and beautifully maintained monastery if time permits.


Our Bhutanese guide will assist you with the exit formalities at the immigration check post. Once the process is complete, meet your Indian driver and continue your journey to the Airport/Station.
