Forsyth Lodge

The story

Forsyth Lodge stands on land that was once barren farmland. Through years of careful restoration, it has been transformed into a healthy forest, protected from grazing and fires, and replanted with native trees and plants. Of the 44 acres we manage, less than 10 percent is used for the lodge. The rest is left wild. This revived forest is now home to thriving wildlife. Chital (spotted deer) and Wild Pigs live here year-round. Leopards and Dholes often pass through. In the fruiting season, Sloth Bears are sometimes seen in daylight or captured on our camera traps. Our naturalists have recorded a wide variety of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, spiders, scorpions, and flowering plants. We are committed to keeping this land as wild as possible. Food waste is separated and composted to avoid attracting animals. Recyclable materials like plastic are sent to certified centers in a nearby town. We aim to leave no trace behind. To reduce our impact, lighting is kept minimal and only used along paths and cottages. Noise is limited around guest areas so that Langurs can rest in peace and Civets can move freely through the trees. At Forsyth Lodge, nature leads the way. By staying here, you are part of a larger effort to restore and protect wild spaces. This is more than a place to stay. It is a place to reconnect with the rhythms of the forest.

Forsyth Lodge

Experiences

Forsyth Lodge offers immersive, low-impact wildlife experiences in the heart of Satpura. Designed by one of India’s leading naturalists, the lodge follows a unique model of non-motorized exploration developed in collaboration with the forest department. Here, conservation and community are at the core of every adventure. Enjoy breakfast in the middle of the forest, surrounded by birdsong and untouched wilderness. Explore the Satpura landscape through guided walking safaris, canoe rides on the Denwa River, and night drives. A canoe safari is a peaceful way to spot crocodiles, otters, and a wide variety of birds along the riverbanks. The region is home to Leopards, Sloth Bears, Dholes, and over 360 species of birds, making it a paradise for wildlife lovers and birdwatchers alike. Back at the lodge, relax in our library filled with books on wildlife, conservation, and local stories - a quiet space to learn more about the ecosystem you're part of. Every experience at Forsyth is thoughtfully designed to connect you with nature while supporting local communities and protecting the forest.

Dining

At Forsyth Lodge, great food is as much a part of the experience as the forest itself. As birds call in the background and nature sets the mood, our team ensures your meals are thoughtful, fresh, and full of local flavour. Our in-house chef, Krishna, is known not only for his culinary skills but also for the care he puts into his organic garden. Many of the vegetables we serve are grown right here on the property. From farm to table, every meal reflects our commitment to sustainability and taste. You can look forward to a delicious mix of local Satpura flavours and classic continental dishes. Meals are served as a set menu and are tailored to your dietary preferences, including vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and Jain options. Whether you're returning from a morning safari or winding down after a day of exploration, each meal is a carefully prepared, comforting highlight of your stay.
