Memories that Stay Forever

Rann Riders stands on land steeped in centuries of care, respect, and belonging. The story of this place begins with the Malek family of Dasada - descendants of the Multani Maleks, whose ancestor, Malek Bhukan, was granted the Estate of Dasada by the King of Ahmedabad in the 13th century. What began as a reward for courage became a legacy of stewardship - a bond between people and land that has endured for generations. Today, that legacy continues through Muzahid Malik, the present custodian of Rann Riders. Like his forefathers, he remains deeply connected to Dasada’s communities - the herders, artisans, and guides who call this salt desert home. His vision for Rann Riders is not just about hospitality but about nurturing this centuries-old relationship with the land and its people. Every part of Rann Riders reflects this philosophy. The cottages echo traditional village design; the staff are locals trained in modern hospitality yet grounded in their culture; the naturalists are storytellers of the land’s flora and fauna; and the chefs bring both regional and global flavors to the table with warmth and pride. At Rann Riders, the Malek family’s heritage lives on through an enduring promise - to protect the land, uplift its people, and offer every guest an experience rooted in authenticity, respect, and heartfelt hospitality. This is more than a lodge. It is a continuation of a centuries-old relationship between man and land - one that thrives through trust, care, and a shared love for Dasada.

At Rann Riders, the Little Rann of Kutch unfolds like a living story. Guests set out on jeep, camel, horse, walking, or cycling safaris, discovering the elusive Asiatic Wild Ass, desert foxes, and over 250 species of birds, including flocks of flamingos that paint the salt flats pink. Beyond wildlife, the lodge connects visitors with local culture - meeting artisans, exploring ancient temples, and witnessing vibrant fairs that celebrate traditions passed through generations. Evenings bring the desert sky alive: stargazing under unpolluted skies, bonfire dinners, or intimate meals by river embankments or the vast Rann. Each experience is designed to immerse guests in the rhythms of this unique landscape, where nature, culture, and desert life meet.

At Rann Riders, dining is more than a meal - it’s an experience that celebrates the flavors, traditions, and landscapes of Gujarat. The centerpiece is Flamingo Restaurant, named after the state bird, where guests gather for a culinary journey that begins with tempting aromas and ends with a sense of delight and well-being. From hearty local dishes to light, nutritious delicacies, the menu caters to every palate, with both buffet offerings and a curated à la carte selection, including fresh seafood and vegetarian specialties. For those seeking something beyond traditional dining, Rann Riders offers intimate and immersive experiences. Enjoy an open-air barbecue by the pool, dinner under a million stars on the edge of the vast 4,950 sq km Rann, or a private meal beside serene river embankments. Every setup is designed to harmonize with the surroundings, turning a meal into a memory. Guests can even combine dining with adventure - an early morning breakfast before a safari, or a bonfire dinner with personalized menus under the desert sky. At Rann Riders, every bite comes with a story, every setting a sense of place, and every meal a celebration of local culture and the desert’s wild beauty.
